Hope everyone has enjoyed a great off season of cyclocross, half marathons, trail runs, or just rest and recovery!!
The PPT board has been hard at work setting up the 2023 season and we’re set to start on Tuesday November 1st!!
Registration will be open soon with many convenient options for athletes to select at our very value minded rates.
Please see below for a breakdown of how typical week of training is going to look for the Indoor/Winter Season!
Tuesday: Indoor Track Night at the University of Manitoba Max Bell. We meet at the north end of the track at 6pm. Be sure to be dressed for indoor running (shorts and a shirt) with a good pair of clean running shoes. It’s also very helpful to have a watch with a stopwatch function as we’ll all be running some slightly different times, and you’ll want to know your splits. Also recommended are a Towel, yoga mat and water bottle. Workouts will last until 7:30pm. Please note that the UM requires masks when entering their facilities.
Wednesday: Indoor Bike Workout at the Winnipeg Rowing Club. Doors open to PPT members at 6:15 with the workout planned to start at 6:30pm. Be sure to have your bike in good working order, Tires pumped up, Turbo or Mag Trainer, bike clothing, Towel, water bottles and a mat to place under your bike.
Saturday: Outdoor Endurance Run at the Assiniboine Park Duck Pond. We’ll meet at the shelter at 8:30am and the run will proceed based on individual paces, goals and fitness levels. The more people we have out, the more pace groups we can set up! Please ensure you’re dressed for the weather. If you’re not quite sure how to dress, talk to one of the coaches at a practice! Through the winter, the start locations may vary based on special events, so keep an eye on the PPT socials.
Sunday: This is our big training day each week!! We’ll be starting at around 2-3hrs and will progress a bit from there!! This workouts begins indoors at the Winnipeg Rowing club. We have access from 8:15am onwards. The workout will begin at 8:30am with a Mag/Turbo Trainer bike workouts. You’ll need the same gear as above on the Wednesday night workout. Following the bike we will do a 20minute circuit with a focus on Injury prevention and mobility. Then for the brave souls, we’ll transition to an outdoor Brick run!
As always, we anticipate lots of questions at the start up of the season, so feel free to reach out to the head coach at ppeacock at shaw.ca or bring your questions to any of the workouts above!
